About WebsiteBuilderReport.com
We publish independent, business-specific website builder reviews. The question we try to answer on every page is simple: which website builder should your business actually use?
Why this site exists
Most "best website builder" articles treat every reader the same. A florist and a SaaS founder get the same five generic bullet points about pricing, templates, and ease of use. That's not useful. A florist has to handle local delivery dates. A SaaS founder has to iterate a landing page every week. A therapist has to keep protected health information off the marketing site entirely. The builder that fits one of those jobs gets in the way of the others.
This site starts with your business, not the builder. We publish a dedicated review for each of the businesses we cover (florists, photographers, therapists, restaurants, lawyers, online stores, plumbers, and so on), and we score the major builders against the realities of that specific trade. When the same builder wins for two different trades, it's because the scoring held up against two different problem sets, not because we defaulted to a recommendation.
How we review
- We score against the real job. Each business page defines the three or four jobs a website in that trade has to do, then scores Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, and any trade-specific tool against those jobs.
- We take a position. Every page picks a winner and a runner-up, and names when each one is wrong for you. "Contact us for a recommendation" isn't a review.
- We say when we're not sure. Every page flags at least one judgment call we're less confident about, so you can weigh it yourself.
- We keep pricing discipline. Specific prices live in CTAs where they're easy to update, not in body content that goes stale the week a platform changes its plans.
- We update. Each page carries a visible last-updated date in the hero badge.
How we make money
WebsiteBuilderReport.com is an affiliate publication. Some of the links on our pages (specifically to Squarespace) are affiliate links. If you click one and subscribe to that platform, we earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. The rest of the platforms we compare are linked with plain, non-affiliate URLs.
Two things we want to be explicit about:
- The pick comes first, the commission second. Our recommendation on any given page is what we'd tell a friend in that trade. Affiliate revenue is a consequence of readers trusting the pick, not the reason for it.
- We don't take paid placements. No platform has ever paid us to be ranked as a winner or runner-up, and we'd decline if they offered. A single sponsored rank would undermine every other page on the site.
How to reach us
If you run a business in a trade we cover and something on the relevant page is wrong, out of date, or missing, tell us. We update pages in response to operator feedback more than any other input.
